THE ROLE

We are looking to recruit a highly ambitious Field Engineer to join our Asia based Services Team to support and contribute to our mobile projects (SMS, WAP, MMS, Java and content driven WAP applications). Our solutions are typically ASP but require customization for each implementation. As such, experience of application development and system administration is required. The ideal candidate will have a software development background with relevant experience in the technologies used.

The role incorporates the development, implementation and support of our mobile content and CRM products in a multi-tasking environment.
A necessary part of the role is the ability to develop client specific solutions in a controlled environment in order to deliver robust system implementations and upgrades for both internal and external use. Responsibilities also include the efficient analysis and resolution of problems affecting production systems, and so maximizing system availability and productivity.

The right candidate will have experience of web application and WAP development and be comfortable working to tight timescales with a minimum of management oversight. The candidate should be a self-starter with a desire to develop and learn and must be willing to tackle new projects and be flexible enough to help out project team members where needed. They will enjoy working in a fast paced, high-growth environment, where the ability to manage multiple tasks to defined objectives is key.

This position reports to the Service Delivery Manager and will require close co-operation with the product development teams. In addition, working with different cultures and across multiple time zones will be a necessity.

Technical skills:
  • XML, XSL, HTML, Java and WML development skills
  • Scripting skills (python, perl, shell)
  • Ability to use and support Java-based and web applications
  • Working knowledge of Networking and TCP/IP
  • Working Knowledge of J2EE (EJB) application development & deployment in JBOSS
  • Linux/Unix system navigation
  • Knowledge of database systems (Oracle, postgres)

Responsibilities
  • Customization and implementation of mobile content applications
  • Campaign scripting, UI development and 3rd party integration of mobile messaging CRM application
  • Responsible for handling help desk calls within the agreed SLA response times
  • Participate in an out-of-hours call rota where required
  • Capable of managing issues and escalations where appropriate on a client by client basis with little supervision
  • Production of weekly reports for management review
Experience
Experience must be commensurate with the role as defined above. In addition, the following is required:
  • Degree educated
  • A minimum of 4 years of WAP/Mobile application development
  • Previous experience working in a technical support function is desirable
